_____________________________________________________________________________ Miscellaneous Waterbury Train Service Notice
Substitute Bus Service July 13, 2009 to August 14, 2009 For Track and Bridge Projects on Waterbury Branch
Bus service will replace all train service, weekdays and weekends, on the Waterbury Branch beginning July 13 and ending August 14, 2009. Metro-North will install 15,200 ties and resurface 19 miles of track south of Derby Station to Waterbury. They will also repair the steel truss bridge over the Naugatuck River at Ansonia during this time.
This continuous outage on the Waterbury Branch will maximize productivity by allowing Metro-North track crews to work extended hours during the entire daylight period Monday through Friday, and to utilize the weekend for clean-up and preparatory work.
This investment is part of the state-of-good-repair tie replacement on the Waterbury Branch required to sustain service reliability. These investments avoid large scale and costly tie projects. This tie project will serve the Waterbury Branch for the next 10 years before another major tie replacement program is necessary.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation and Metro-North apologize for any inconvenience to Waterbury Branch customers during this period.
NOTE: CT DOT
Commissioner Joseph Marie will join us at this special meeting. Please
pass along
this news to your fellow commuters and
come to the meeting!.
