The Seymour Recreation Department provides the residents a varied list of activities and programs for their leisure time.  Many are listed below.

Tennis Lessons

The Seymour Recreation Department is sponsoring tennis lessons for youths ages 3-12 years on Mondays and Wednesdays starting on June 23rd at the Seymour High School courts.  Lessons run thru August 13th from 6pm to 8pm.  Fees are $30.00 for 3-5 years old and last for 30 minutes.  The fee is $45.00 for ages 6-8 years or 9-12 years and last for 45 minutes.  Non-residents fees are slightly higher.  Missy Orosz is the instructor.  To register call the recreation office at 888-0406 or come to the office at 20 Pine Street on Monday thru Thursday.

Multi Sports Camp

Experience over 15 different sports from around the world with the US Sports Institute.  At Seymour Community on July 7th-11th for 5-14 year olds.  Times are 9am to 1pm (5-7 year olds) and 9am to 3pm (7-14 year olds) at a cost of $120 for 1/2 day and $140 for full day.

Sports Squirts Program

The Sport Squirts program is a great way to introduce children aged 3 to 5 to a variety of sports.  At the Seymour Community Center on July 7-11th for 3-5 year olds from 4pm-5:30pm with a cost of $70.00.

SEYMOUR SUMMER CAMP JOBS

Applications for summer playground counselor jobs will be available at the Town Clerk's Office in Town Hall or at the Recreation Office at 20 Pine Street beginning on April 2nd.  Applicants must be 16 years old by July 1st 2008 to apply.

Completed applications must be returned to the Recreation Department Office by mail or in person between April 14th and April 25th as interviews will be held in mid-May.

The summer program runs from July 7th to August 15th at Chatfield Park and Gary Park.  Applications are also available for lifeguards who can teach swimming.

Family Swim Night

The Seymour Recreation Department will be conducting another Family Swim Night at the Seymour High School pool on Wednesday evenings beginning on January 16th to April 16th from 7:15 pm to 9:00 pm.

The cost for Seymour residents - Family: $32.00, Couple: $20.00, Singles: $15.00 and Seniors: no charge.  Non-residents may attend, but at a slightly higher fee.  This is an open swim night where residents can relax with their families, do laps if desired or just sit with their feet in the water.

SEYMOUR RECREATION KARATE CLASSES

Classes are now being formed for Karate Classes to be held at the Seymour Community Center Twice weekly.

Ages 6-11- Beginners Class-Tuesdays & Thursdays

4:00 p.m.-4:45 p.m.

Ages 6-11-Intermediate/Advanced Class-Tuesdays & Thursdays

4:45 p.m.-5:45 p.m.

             Ages 11 & Up-Beginners Class-Tuesdays & Thursdays

6:00 p.m.-6:45p.m.

Ages 11 & Up-Intermediate/Advanced Tuesday & Thursdays

6:45p.m.-7:45 p.m.

   Classes will start in February. Registration will be held  on 2/12/08

and 2/21/08 in the Cougars Den from

6:30-8 p.m.

Tuition is $65.00 p/month.

       First 20 students to sign up receive a discounted rate of $60.00 p/month.
