The First Selectwoman's Office together with our Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, and all of Seymour's Commissions work together to craft the Town's yearly budget. Throughout February and March, residents have the opportunity to provide input at public meetings and forums. Your input is invaluable, because ultimately, it is you, the residents of Seymour, that have the final say on whether our proposed budget passes. Below you will find information about the budget process. On the left you can view the Board of Finance meeting dates. This page will be updated frequently. Important notices will be communicated via our Facebook Page and CodeRED alert system.

Notice - Annual Town Meeting

2022 -2023 Mil Rate is 35.59 on Real Estate and Personal Property.

To calculate the taxes on your home, do the following:

  1.     Obtain the appraised value of your home
  2.     Multiply the appraised value of your home by 0.70 (or 70%) to determine its assessed value
  3.     Multiply your home's assessed value by 0.03559 (the proposed mil rate) to determine the amount of taxes you will pay

Example: A house appraised at $200,000 would pay $4,982.60

$200,000 (appraised value) x 0.70 (or 70%) = $140,000 (assessed value)

$140,000 (assessed value) x 0.03559 (FY 22 mil rate) = $4,982.60 (tax owed)
