Roberta M. King Excellence in Governmental Service Award Nominations Form

An elected board of 7 members who act as the Town’s legislative body in all matters except the setting of the annual budget.

Among other powers, this Board may:

• Enact, amend or repeal ordinances
• Create, amend and abolish any board, department or position deemed necessary by a 2/3 majority
• Contract with the State and Federal government
• Call Special Town Meetings; accept or abandon roads
• Administer purchases for boards other than the Board of Education
• Incur debt on behalf of the Town
• Engage in real estate transactions on behalf of the Town
• Require any board to submit quarterly reports
• Provide conduit for the public to petition an issue
