Seymour is open for business.

On this page you will find resources to start or expand your business in Seymour, including regulations, permits, tax incentives, and contacts. If you cannot find what you are looking for, reach out to the First Selectwoman’s Office at (203) 888-2511 and we will be happy to help.

Getting Started

  1. Contact the First Selectwoman's Office so we can get to know you and your business idea. We can provide resources, information about business development incentives and services, and refer you to appropriate municipal and state offices. Start with the State of Connecticut's Business One Stop and Business Startup Tool.

  2. Write your business plan. SCORE is the nation's largest nonprofit small business development organization. They provide mentorship, consultative, and education resources from fellow business owners. The Connecticut Small Business Development Center (SBDC) offers free advice to businesses from industry experts.

  3. Find your location. Seymour has a variety of commercial spaces available: find yours using CT SiteFinder or Loopnet.

Tax Incentives

To encourage private investment, improve the physical appearance of the community, expand the Town's economic base, support sustainable business development, and promote a healthy business climate, Seymour had adopted a competitive tax incentive policy. New Construction and rehabilitation or expansion are covered under the tax incentive plan.
