The Seymour Ambulance Association provides all ambulance and emergency medical services for the Town of Seymour. Founded in 1969, the Association is recognized as one of the premier volunteer ambulance services in the United States. In 2000, it was named National EMS Service of the Year by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.
The mission of the Seymour Ambulance Association is to protect, educate, and serve the residents of Seymour and surrounding communities through a professional, reliable, and nonprofit emergency medical services system that meets all state and federal laws and regulations.
The Association is supported by approximately 100 dedicated volunteer members, who work to uphold the highest professional standards as:
MRTs (Medical Response Technicians)
EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians)
EMT-Intermediates
Paramedics
Their training, dedication, and commitment ensure premium emergency medical care for the community.
Seymour Ambulance is the lead organization of the William King, Sr. Health and Safety Institute, providing a wide range of health and safety training programs across southern Connecticut.
The Association also operates some of the only EMS-based injury prevention programs in the nation, including:
Safe Communities Program of the Lower Naugatuck Valley
Valley-Amity Safe Kids Coalition
These programs offer community education and injury prevention initiatives such as:
Car seat clinics
Bicycle safety rodeos
Safe-Sitter babysitting programs
A variety of local and regional injury prevention workshops and events
