The primary responsibility of Animal Control is to ensure the safety of all residents and animals within the Town of Seymour. This includes enforcing local and state ordinances related to animals. Key duties include:
Serving as a liaison with other agencies regarding dogs, cats, birds, and other animals

The Town of Seymour Assessor’s Office is responsible for valuing all taxable and non-taxable property, including real estate, business personal property, and motor vehicles. The office prepares the annual grand list and manages property exemptions such as veterans, disabled taxpayers, and farm/open space programs. The Inland Wetlands Commission (IWC) is a volunteer five-member board that enforces state statutes to protect and maintain Seymour’s freshwater wetlands and watercourses. The Commission meets on the fourth Monday of each month at Seymour Town Hall and oversees the Inland Wetlands Enforcement Officer, who conducts inspections, reviews permits and enforces regulations.

A regional welfare office administrates the town's General Assistance program under the auspices of the state Department of Social Services.
Residents without assets or financial resources may contact the office for food bank, clothing source and other relevant referrals. Individuals with special medical needs, such as substance abuse, will be directed to the proper facilities. The office offers assistance for unemployable individuals who are awaiting Social Security service.

The Tax Collector's office is responsible for maintaining all tax records and for collecting taxes due to the Town of Seymour by all means allowed by State Statute.

he Zoning Enforcement Office reviews and approves all documents related to development of lands within the Town. Anyone constructing, demolishing, adding, or otherwise structurally modifying any building must first obtain appropriate permits from the Zoning Office. Building inspectors will then review all construction work to make sure it complies with applicable building codes.
